Children’s Publisher Puts its Cherry Where its Mouth is

Sweet Cherry Publishing has recently acquired its very own storyteller, who will work with the publishing house and its authors to promote and ignite children’s love for reading. 

This hire was made by Sweet Cherry’s Managing Director, Abdul Thadha, who was in the audience at a theatre event promoted by the publishing house to “bring books to life” for the local children from its home in Leicester.  

Sanjee de Silva, publisher at Sweet Cherry, distinctly remembers the moment, in the chaos of the show, when Abdul messaged asked where he’d found him. Sanjee said, “Our mission is, of course, to make reading more fun and exciting for children, but this goes beyond creating, curating and printing. It is our duty to ensure that these stories are accessible, too, and this bold new recruit will better engage and inspire children to read the books we create.”

The publishing house hopes that this decision will help to bridge the gap between itself and its readers. No longer will the duty of reading fall with the parent, guardian, librarian or teacher; this new storyteller can take the lead, follow Sweet Cherry’s calling, and make great stories accessible to all.

The already-established Preacher the Storyteller is ecstatic to have joined forces with the publisher, saying: “This is a fantastic opportunity, one that dreams are made of! My goal has always been to inspire a love of stories and encourage creativity and imagination.”

Preacher, boasting 9 years of experience within the storytelling and entertainment industry, certainly knows his stuff – he has played a vital role in many of Sweet Cherry’s previous events, including last year’s aforementioned Author Showcase at The Y Theatre, Leicester.

As an employee of the publishing house, Preacher will be on-hand to promote new releases, partake in marketing campaigns and perform at company events. Schools, libraries and other organisations will even be able to request visits from the storyteller, allowing for much more exciting reading sessions.
