London Book Fair 2018 has just drawn to a close. Three days’ worth of publishers, agents, printers, distributors, wholesalers, authors and many more met at London Olympia to decide the future of the book world.

It was a busy London Book Fair for us and we thought we’d share a snapshot of what we got up to….

As well as exhibiting, we also get a chance to explore the fair and meet other people and their stands.

Here’s editor Kellie Jones exploring the fair and the exhibit for Latvia.

Meetings are definitely important, but the London Book Fair is also a fantastic opportunity to see what other publishers are doing and check out their stands. Here are some highlights from 2018 – a recreation of the Oval Office and some giant headphones. They’re definitely memorable!

For our editors, London Book Fair is a good opportunity to meet agents. They discuss exciting new projects coming up and what the children’s market might do next. Here’s managing editor, Cecilia Bennett, with Kate Nash of Kate Nash Literary Agency. In case you missed it, we just announced that we’ve signed a four-book deal with Gill Stewart, an author that Kate represents.

There are always loads of great talks going on and we try to see as many as we can. This year there were talks on everything from inclusivity and disability to live-streaming events.

As well as attending talks, we also take part in some. Foreign rights and sales manager Lara Clift spoke on Building an Export Business Using Trade Fairs and Government Funding Support. Daniel Faulkner (sales and marketing executive) and Jess Stenson (publicity and marketing executive) presented at the Children’s Publisher Pitches.

Sometimes it’s easier to have conversations about projects in person. Here’s Cecilia Bennett with Roberta Cagliani, from Atlantyca. Our Geronimo Stilton books are originally Italian and so we liaise with Atlantyca about how we’re publishing and publicising the stories. Cecilia and Roberta discussed which new Geronimo Stilton books we might be publishing next. It’s great to see what Geronimo is getting up to all around the world!

We’d love to see your pictures from the London Book Fair!
