Children’s Publisher Turns Much-Loved Horror Classic on its Head…

Leicester’s very own award-winning children’s book publisher, Sweet Cherry Publishing, has joined forces with a certain Carnegie-nominated author to put a light-hearted spin on a creepy yet much-loved classic story.

We all know the tale… a young man, obsessed with creating life, inadvertently creates a monster. Is it a monster, though? Sweet Cherry is about to ask young readers that very question.

When Frankie Made a Human, penned by the renowned Rachel Delahaye, entirely flips the story of Frankenstein and his monster. Here, readers are introduced to a dark and intriguing world where one young and lonely monster, Frankie, decides to create his very own human.

Speaking about this exciting release, author Rachel Delahaye said: “When Frankie Made a Human is nearly here, and I can’t wait to see it come to life! Flipping the traditional tale allowed me to explore the more human side of Shelley’s monster, alongside the more monstrous side of us humans! This project really shows that it’s not how we’re put together that matters, but what’s inside (nothing in the case of Violet the Skeleton). This book is dark yet light, funny and full of heart… just don’t tell the vampires!”

Beautifully illustrated by Maïté Schmitt, the book offers intricate visuals that will ignite even the most stubborn or reluctant of imaginations.
