Sweet Cherry announces brand new range of Numberblocks and Alphablocks books

Sweet Cherry Publishing has announced a new range of books for their Numberblocks and Alphablocks properties, including new lift-the-flap and wipe-clean formats, releasing later this year.

The news from the independent Leicester-based children’s publisher follows shortly after the fifth season of number animation Numberblocks premiered on CBeebies.

25 million minutes of Numberblocks are now watched every day on YouTube, and the channel recently achieved the milestone of 2 million subscribers in less than 3 years. Sanjee de Silva, Publisher at Sweet Cherry Publishing, said:  “It’s been great to see a growing demand for our Numberblocks and Alphablocks books. As we look ahead and develop our range, we’re publishing in a wider range of accessible formats for early learners while giving existing fans something new to look forward to.”

Sweet Cherry has previously published early learning wipe-clean books for Numberblocks and Alphablocks, plus two official Numberblocks Annuals for 2020 and 2021, the most recent of which featured in Nielsen BookScan’s bestselling books of 2020.

Autumn 2020 will see the release of four new wipe-clean books plus a 4-book Numberblocks and Alphablocks case, two lift-the-flap books, a brand new 2022 edition of the Numberblocks Annual and a Numberblocks Christmas sticker and activity book.

Joe Elliot, Director of Alphablocks Ltd and creator of the Numberblocks and Alphablocks brands, said: “It is an absolute delight to see the Numberblocks and Alphablocks publishing programs grow with the launch of these new formats from Sweet Cherry for fans to enjoy. Book publishing is an integral part of our multi-sensory, multi-platform plans to help fans interact with these shows and build their love of early learning maths and reading. These shows have a large and dedicated following of young fans, and we have seen huge growth on both fanbases over the last 12 months, as people have sought out both Alphablocks and Numberblocks to help support lockdown learning. The audience is hungry for more and really want to get hands-on and this is where these clever, tactile books come into their own.”

Lindsey Chester, Senior Licensing and Retail Manager at Larkshead Licensing, said: “It has been a pleasure to work with Sweet Cherry on developing these new formats for fans to enjoy. Sweet Cherry has a real enthusiasm and commitment to bringing these two incredibly popular fun learning brands to life.”

Proud to showcase brand licensing in the Midlands, Sweet Cherry was nominated for an award at The 2020 Licensing Awards and was recently named Midland’s Small Press of the Year at The British Book Awards 2021.
