[PRESS RELEASE –13 MAY 2021]
Sweet Cherry appoints Divia Kainth as Head of Sales and Marketing

Divia Kainth
Sweet Cherry Publishing has appointed the position of Head of Sales and Marketing to Divia Kainth. Within the last sixteen months, the Leicester-based independent children’s publisher has welcomed over thirteen new members to the team, and is also proud to help develop and support the careers of rising stars in publishing.
Divia Kainth first joined Sweet Cherry as an intern in 2018, shortly after graduating from Oxford Brookes University with a First Class Honours degree in Publishing Media. Within the last three years, she has progressed from Sales and Rights Assistant to Marketing and Publicity Executive, and now to Head of Sales and Marketing.
Divia Kainth’s publicity efforts recently led Sweet Cherry to win Midland’s Small Press of the Year at The British Book Awards, three BizzieBaby book awards and secured the company a place at the finals of The 2020 Licensing Awards.
She said: “I am so passionate about raising Sweet Cherry’s profile in publishing, right here in my hometown. From working with top brands to embracing workplace diversity, our team is doing great things behind the scenes here in Leicester and I’m proud to showcase that not only to our local community, but the wider publishing industry, too.”
Sweet Cherry reports that over 50% of its management comes from BAME backgrounds, as was recently praised for being “ahead of the game” when it comes to diversity. Publisher Sanjee de Silva said: “At Sweet Cherry, we don’t see diversity as a quota to reach or a statistic to strike for. It was only when other publishers began to tackle their own inclusivity issues that we actually realised our team is and always has been diverse and inclusive. We plan to stay ahead of the game in terms of diversity, not only within our workforce but in our list of authors and illustrators too.”
Divia begins her new role as Head of Marketing and Publicity effective immediately.
