PRESS RELEASE – 10th FEBRUARY 2019
Sweet Cherry expands internationally with major US distributor
Sweet Cherry Publishing has announced that they have signed a contract with Baker & Taylor Publisher Services (BTPS) to begin distribution into the United States of America and Canada, as part of their 2019 expansion plan. Distribution of their trade titles is set to begin from 1st July 2019.
The news follows the company’s rapid growth, as turnover nearly trebled from 2017 to 2018. Revenue from the US and Canada is already encouraging and the new distribution channel will open up a network of bookshops, schools and libraries to the publisher.
As with all BTPS client publishers, Sweet Cherry will benefit from Baker & Taylor’s distribution network, which includes the ability to reach most U.S. readers in one to two days, manufacturing resources, and the knowledge and market data that comes from its position as a leading supplier to public and school libraries, higher education retail stores, the general book trade, and speciality retailers.
Baker & Taylor Publisher Services is working closely with Sweet Cherry to expand their marketing opportunities with bloggers, librarians, teachers and booksellers across the US and Canada. Both offline and online marketing, review coverage and brand awareness will be key. Editorial features, ARCs and email marketing all form a part of the strategic marketing plans.
Sweet Cherry’s Managing Director, Abdul Thadha, said: ‘We have already witnessed the worldwide appeal of our titles and we are confident they will be loved by American readers. This is going to be a big year for Sweet Cherry and new distributors will play an important role in our growth and global expansion for years to come. While the UK remains important to us, international trade is a large part of our business we are seeing many opportunities to grow.’
