Sweet Cherry secures French rights representation
Award-winning Leicester-based independent publisher, Sweet Cherry Publishing, has signed French rights agency Agence Ouroboros to represent their list of children’s books in France.
After meeting at The 2021 Online (London) Book Fair, the deal was closed between Agence Ouroboros’s rights agent Bénédicte Bernier and Sweet Cherry’s Senior Rights Manager Melanny Sanchez, who said:
‘I am delighted that Bénédicte will be representing our list in France. We are looking forward to working with her, given her ability and network of contacts in the French market. We are also very excited to share our range of children’s books with a new market of children in France.’
Bénédicte Bernier offers rights representation, French translation and editorial services to small and medium publishing companies in France and around the world, including Hachette Livre and Plume Blanche. Effective immediately, she will promote Sweet Cherry’s list and negotiate translation deals rights with French publishers. Bernier said:
‘I am really excited to work with Sweet Cherry and its team, and I can’t wait to promote their titles to the French market.’
With representation across Asia and most of Europe, Sweet Cherry reports an 87% increase in revenue from rights deals from 2020 to 2021. There’s been significant interest in their list of adapted and illustrated Easy Classics and new yoga-themed picture book, Mula and the Fly.
