Sweet Cherry Publishing, the award-winning independent publisher based in Leicester, is delighted to announce the acquisition of Blind Spot, an emotional rollercoaster of a contemporary coming-of-age YA title.
Editor Annabelle Coleman acquired world rights to the standalone Young Adult title directly from the author, Christine M. Quirk. The book follows seventeen-year-old Scott, who accidentally blinds his twin sister in chemistry class, leaving their plans to escape their father’s cruelty in tatters and his life changed beyond recognition. As the tension in their home escalates, Stacy becomes a shell of herself, and Scott is torn between survivor’s guilt and his own self-preservation.
Christine M. Quirk said: “I am thrilled to be working with Sweet Cherry Publishing. I’ve always been a voracious reader, and I love supporting the mission of making stories accessible to every child and teenager.
“Families are often complex and messy, and it’s easy to forget everyone is trying their best with what they know. Blind Spot is the book I wish I’d had as a teenager. I’m so excited to introduce my characters to the world, and I hope people will cheer on Scott and Stacy as I did.”
Annabelle Coleman commented: “Blind Spot is a wonderful debut novel. Christine has crafted a beautiful story about grief and family with such special realism and hope. I’m beyond proud to call this my first acquisition as an editor. I can’t wait to see it on shelves and in people’s hands. Readers should strap in for this emotional rollercoaster!”
Blind Spot will publish in Autumn 2026 under Sweet Cherry’s new YA and NA imprint, to be announced in 2026.
