Sweet Cherry Blazes Ahead with Blue’s Planet: Australia

Sweet Cherry Publishing has acquired worldwide rights to Blue’s Planet: Australia by Lucy McRobert, thus marking a significant milestone in its mission to bring engaging and educational children’s literature to readers.

This release will be McRobert’s first upper middle grade fiction book, promising to entertain young readers while simultaneously inspiring them to take an active role in preserving the planet. The story follows the young and ambitious Blue, who begins travelling with her parents as they document environmental issues around the world.

Set during a scorching Australian summer, book one delves into the pressing issue of climate change and the devastating impact it has on Australia’s animals. Blue’s experiences, from volunteering at a wildlife hospital to joining a daring koala rescue mission, provide readers with an immersive and compelling exploration of environmental conservation.

Kellie Jones, Commissioning Editor at Sweet Cherry, acquired worldwide rights in all languages (excluding audio) from Northbank Talent Management. She said: “I’m so excited about Blue’s Planet! It’s a real globetrotting adventure series, with a vivid new location in each book. Animal lovers and budding young environmentalists are going to love it.“

The author is equally as excited for this release, saying: “It’s so exciting to see Blue and her world brought to life. I wanted to create a character and a book that would empower young people to take their own actions for nature and show that anyone, no matter how young, can make a positive difference for wildlife. Blue’s adventures are inspired by real worldwide events and environmental issues, some of which are challenging, complex, even scary, for children. I hope that they will be inspired by Blue as she travels the world, confronting big issues with courage and passion, showing that you’re never too young to save the world.”

The acquisition of worldwide rights for this book signifies Sweet Cherry’s strong commitment to delivering high-quality literature that not only entertains but also educates and motivates young readers. Blue’s Planet: Australia, which is filled with striking illustrations by Alisha Monnin, is set for release on 15 th February 2024.
