[PRESS RELEASE – 28TH February  2023]

Sweet Cherry is Unsure Why You Wouldn’t Love the Latest Addition to its Mula and the Fly Series

Sweet Cherry Publishing, the award-winning children’s publisher based in Leicester, is set to release its third picture book with New York actress and yoga enthusiast-turned-author Lauren Hoffmeier.

Back in 2021, the publisher signed a deal that secured worldwide rights to create and publish Hoffmeier’s Mula and the Fly series across all languages. In the two years since the partnership began, two books (Mula and the Fly and Mula and the Snooty Monkey) have hit the shelves and delighted parents, children and families across the globe, with the series being named NY Times’ Reader’s Favourite.

Studies have shown that mindfulness practices like yoga have highly beneficial effects on children and young people, and this was certainly a driving force in the author’s wanting to bring her love of yoga to the world of publishing.

The third instalment, Mula and the Unsure Elephant, is set for release on 28th March and is sure to continue this streak of positive influence.

It follows the story of Mani, a very anxious and insecure elephant who discovers self-confidence after the much-beloved jungle characters introduce her to the practice of yoga.

When asked about this latest instalment, Hoffmeier said: “I can’t wait for everyone to meet Mani, the unsure elephant! As a writer, watching my characters grow with each book is a journey in and of itself. They continue to surprise me with their funny antics and teach me so much about the joyful, loving, and balancing practice that is yoga. Now that the world at large is discussing the incredible benefits of yogic practices for all ages, it is especially humbling to watch these books develop, offering up simple messages that allow children to love all parts of themselves.”

Discussing this exciting release, Sweet Cherry’s publisher, Sanjee de Silva, said: “Myself and the team absolutely love working with Lauren on the Mula series. Each of these books is filled with the most amazing tales and, of course, perfect messages that will help children to develop their cognitive and mindfulness skills. Lauren is a truly gifted writer, and the breath-taking illustrations by Ela Smietanka are the absolute cherry on top.”

Prepare for your trip to the jungle – Mula and the Unsure Elephant is available from 28th March, with paperback versions of all Mula titles being published on 30th March at a lower price point
