PRESS RELEASE 4th NOVEMBER 2020

Sweet Cherry partners with RNIB

Sweet Cherry is working with RNIB Bookshare UK to deliver their list of children’s fiction in accessible formats for children who are blind, partially sighted children’ or dyslexic.

Founded by the Royal National Institute of Blind People in 2011, the RNIB Bookshare’s online service enables learners with

sight loss and dyslexia, who cannot access standard print formats, to read the same books as their peers, giving them the same educational opportunities.

Stacy Scott, manager of RNIB Bookshare, said: “We are delighted to work with Sweet Cherry Publishing, making their content available to those with print disabilities. We really cannot describe the difference that every single book makes.”

RNIB Bookshare also houses 600,000 accessible books from around 900 publishers and imprints, and Sweet Cherry are proud to join the initiative.

Over 60 children’s books from Sweet Cherry are now available to read on the platform, including a range of Easy Classics, humorous fiction and young adult novels. The full list is available here.

Lara Clift, Publisher at Sweet Cherry, said: “Accessibility is at the heart of our publishing programme and we are proud to work with the RNIB who share the same passion. Readers will be able to access our books in a format that suits their needs and we can continue to share the magic of storytelling with more children”.
