The Songs You’re About to Hear… Clock Tower’s Young Adult Novel Receives Prestigious Nomination!

Sweet Cherry Publishing, Leicester’s very own small press, is ecstatic to have received a nomination for The Songs You’ve Never Heard, the young adult novel published under its imprint Clock Tower Publishing.

The book, co-authored by singer-songwriter Becky Jerams and BAFTA-winning songwriter/composer Ellie Wyatt, is a positive tale of friendship, identity and music. It tells the story of Meg McCarthy and Alana Howard, two teenage girls who come to learn, through a shared love of music, that appearances can be deceiving.

Awards season has been extremely competitive this year, but when the authors were alerted that Songs had received a nomination for The Bookseller’s YA Book Prize, they were incredibly excited by the news.

When asked about the nomination, the authors said: “We are so delighted that our booksical has been listed amongst such fantastic authors and YA stories for the 2023 YA Book Prize. We really hope young readers will connect with the themes of finding friendship, surviving siblings and social media, and above all being brave enough to put creativity out into the world. A lot of our experience as songwriters went into these characters and a lot of love went into the accompanying songs, which hopefully helped bring the story to life for our readers.”

The winner of this year’s YA Book Prize will be announced on 24^th August 2023, and if you haven’t yet read this novel, it is available to buy from all major retailers (as well as many local, independent bookstores).
