World Laughter Day 2021
“Laughter is the best medicine in the world.’
World Laughter Day is an event celebrated worldwide to raise awareness of the healing benefits of … laughter! Research has found that humour is one of the best forms to increase the retention of learning and children are much more likely to engage in learning when they are happy.
With so much going on in the world, it might seem like there isn’t much to laugh about. But if you stop and take a moment, think back to all of those funny moments we’ve all had and just take a minute to relive them. Now laugh and just let it out! It feels good doesn’t it?
Sometimes all it takes is to be reminded of the good times!
Did you know that laughter may even help you to live longer? A study in Norway found that people with a strong sense of humor outlived those who don’t laugh as much!
With that in mind, here are some funny (but cheesy) bookish jokes that are sure to make you laugh!
Why are first books afraid of their sequels?
Because they always come after them.
Why does the ghost always need more books?
She goes through them too quickly.
Making reading fun is at the heart of Sweet Cherry Publishing – and with fun comes lots of laughter! Here are some of our funny book recommendations…
A must-read for fans of Wimpy Kid
Meet Danny Dingle: genius inventor, secret spy and future assistant to the greatest superhero EVER, Metal Face! Danny and Percy know they have to pull out all the stops to beat Danny’s arch enemy, Gareth Trumpshaw, who’s an evil genius, with an evil genius dad. (They’re also great big cheaters!) Can Dad’s special brew of super-fizzy cola save the day? Or will it be down to Superdog to come to the rescue yet again?
Introducing schoolgirl detective Mina Mistry!
Being at school is boring when you know you’re going to be something cool like a Private Investigator. Until then, Mina’s going to practise for her future…
Aren’t school dinners a bit strange? Chicken nuggets? Again? On pizza? Covered in chocolate? Nobody wants to live on lettuce and broccoli, but children are losing teeth over this! This needs investigating. This looks like a case for Mina Mistry.
Geronimo Stilton: respected journalist, family mouse … well-seasoned traveller? No thank you! But when Geronimo’s sister Thea finds a mysterious map of a secret treasure on a faraway island, Geronimo just can’t say no. Before long, Geronimo and his family are on the high seas, getting into enor-mouse trouble!
